let's talk about lighting and giveaways

One of the many, many, many things I love most about my Mom's kitchen is the lighting (though let's not forget the wine fridge). Not only does light flood in from the three walls of windows and French doors, but she's also rocking a fabulous industrial-looking pendant above the island. She happens to be quite proud of that purchase and you can't argue with her. It's a functional statement piece that always garners a, "Now, where did you get that?" from guests.

So when I came across this pendant lamp, a light bulb went off (I'm sorry, I really couldn't help myself). How unbelievable would this Normann Copehnhagen pendant look in a kitchen (or a living room or bedroom)??

I mean, of course I was immediately drawn to it, it's a Scandinavian design. But I can't imagine you not warming up to it, too. And if your kitchen is unfortunately petite (hey, I'm with ya), what a fantastic opportunity to draw eyes up towards your fierce, newly acquired light fixture than straight ahead towards your stove that's the size of an Easy Bake.

Oh and did I mention we've got a giveaway offer?? It's about time, I gave you all incentive to continue checking in here. CSNStores is generously offering a lucky reader a $40 gift card, redeemable at any of their online stores (And might I suggest you check out allmodern.com for a selection of iittala glasses that I'm lusting over to the extreme). Which means that Normann Copenhagen pendant lamp could be yours. Amongst a million other fantastic products in their inventory.

To win the CSNStores gift card*, leave a comment on this post with what you would splurge on if you won along with your email address. The contest will end next Wednesday, July 7th and the lucky winner will be announced on Thursday, July 8th.

Good luck!

*Available for US and Canada readers only. The card does not cover shipping costs.

Just a quick question, how is the Norman Copenhagen Pendant of Finnish Design? Is Danish or Finnish?

How fun, Keeks!!

If I were the lucky recipient, I would splurge on a new desktop lamp for the dresser in my bedroom. I have recently been focusing my decorative energy to making my bedroom more "grown-up" and less "I bought this when I lived off campus in college." To match my new, gorgeous headboard, I thought I could turn my attention to sophisticated lamps. I've perused the website and found a few that would be perfect. The gift cert would be a great help toward the eventual purchase!

I love contests!

In answer to your question…

Well, I did my searching and am unfortunately not a dog owner because if I were, my splurging would be done on the Puppe Love Killer Whale Dog Costume. It really is the amazing thing I have seen in a long time.

Oh well...moving on. If I were the lucky winner of Eat and Greet's first giveaway/contest, I would have to treat myself to a new cosmetic case for all my trips I will be taking back east this summer.

Since I am having an unselfish day, I would use the card for my best friend. She is 5 months preggers and All Modern has amazing baby stuff! I think I am leaning towards one the mobiles..heck I think I will get one regardless if I win.

kiira - Since I sell that lamp where I work I'd probably go in a different direction. What I really need for my new apartment is a table lamp that would go between my couch and oversized chair. I would like something simple and modern but have yet to find the perfect match. I love allmodern (even though they are the competition) so a gift certificate would REALLY help this girl to decorate her studio. (you can finally come visit when i win...wink wink)

Yo Kiir!
I'm on an interior design kick lately so i think I would go with one (or two) of those throw pillows from Dwell Studio. So cute!

Since I've been living with a busted dresser, I would put the gift certificate towards this bad boy: http://www.allmodern.com/babyletto-M6127H-MIR1017.html. I'm digging the idea of four small drawers (instead of the traditional two).

I am obsessing over the Normann Copenhagan Mormor collection.

Any piece will make me happy.. they are charming modern, and remind me of my mother's Swedish handwoven dish towels.

A coupon will help, 'cause I'll be needing more than 1 piece!

I am working on updating a tragically yellow faux brass (fixtured) powder room. You know that terrible yellow brass color that contractors seem to love? Apparently the last owner never got around to this room, and we are in desperate need of an update. I have done knobs, towel ring, mirror, and the last piece of the puzzle is the faucet. Soooo, I would choose the Danze Sheridan Centerset Bathroom Faucet with High Rise Spout in Oil Rubbed Bronze to finish the project once and for all!

I would get the "Menu Jakob Wagner Wine Rack" to display some wine above the wetbar, keeping it within close reach for summer grilling on the patio.

Keeks-

After thinking this for a few days and not being able to come up with a final answer, my mom proposed to me that she wanted to redo her bedroom. This couldn't have come at a better time because I have thought for the past few weeks (ahem..years) that the hideous green thing needed to go and I right away thought of your give away on Eat and Greet. After browsing, The Well Dressed Bed Florentine 9 Piece Duvet Cover Set would look great.
Since she's an avid reader, I decided I'd post for her.

As for MY entry, since it's my birthday week and all (hint, hint) I would order a grill pan. Our old one recently broke due to over use..
